1/4 plate tintype of a mounted cavalryman holding a carbine. Killer image!
1/4 plate tintype of a group standing in front of their camp (you can see tents in the background). They are unfortunately unidentified.
1/6th plate ambrotype of a confederate soldier taken by Rees of Richmond.
1/6 plate ruby ambrotype of a Tennessee solider, probably not long after enlistment. Super clear!
1/6th plate ambrotype of the same soldier to the left, probably a couple years later.
Wow, you don't often see images this clear. 1/6th plate ruby ambrotype of an enlisted federal soldier.
1/6th plate tintype of a knife-wielding confederate soldier.
1/6th plate ambrotype of a soldier holding a pistol. I've seen this image often reproduced on other sites.
1/6th plate ambrotype of a Virginian holding a bowie knife. He is identified in one of the Confederate Faces books.
1/6th plate tintype of a soldier who is wearing a great coat and ready to stab you with that bayonet! What a pose! In the back of the case is a date but not ID.
1/9th plate ambrotype of a confederate soldier that came from a Virginia estate. When the mat is removed, you get a great look at his cap box.
1/6th plate tintype of a soldier dressed in a great coat and reading a newspaper. Great blue tinting.
1/9th plate ambrotype of a soldier holding a pistol. The photographer wrote "Union" on his hat! How unusual!
1/6th plate tintype of a soldier outdoors near what I've been told is called the "New Jersey Well." Other examples are out there. I like his backpack.
1/6th plate tintype of a hard-looking confederate. Look at his hat and belt! Fantastic! The buttons are just discernible enough to make out script "I"'s.
1/6th plate tintype of a cocky looking soldier. Housed in a neat oval case.
Wow! That's what I think every time I look at this image. I think they are western theatre federal soldiers but perhaps they are partisans. Hard to tell. I LOVE this one.
1/6th plate purple-glass ambrotype of a South Carolina infantryman who was identified by a note in the back of the case.
1/6th plate tintype of a rough-looking soldier holding a savage revolver.
1/2 plate ambrotype of a confederate soldier. Only the third half plate confederate I've owned. Probably from South Carolina.
